Lucid dreaming podcast

I've been reading Steve Pavlina's blog the past few weeks and came across a podcast several days ago that sparked my interest. In the podcast he turns the mike over to his wife, Erin Pavlina, who has recently started her own blog. I normally don't listen to things like this, but I made an exception in this case.

The 10 to 12 minute podcast is on the topic of lucid dreaming. For someone not familiar with this phenomenon, it's a great intro to the topic. But even for those who are familiar with lucid dreaming, I can recommend taking the 10 minutes to listen to this.

I think it was around minute 8 or so that Erin Pavlina described a nighttime technique that I had never read about previously. And that technique is to keep your eyes open while you are falling asleep. The basic point is that this technique extends your awareness just to the point of falling asleep, and there is a very good chance that some of this awareness will follow you into the dream world.
To listen to Erin Pavlina's podcast, including this interesting technique:

Hey, and have you succeed?

I have found out about this recently. Of course, I was sceptical.
But as I have talked with some people the conception has some base in it.

I would like to try, but do not know how to start. I have found a tutorial but this did not seem to be much of help.
Anyway, I have come accross your post and I am downloading the podcast. Maybe this can help.

Looking forward for the future.

Cheers

I did not succeed with Erin Pavlina's technique that I mentioned. However, I've had several lucid dreams over the last 20 some years, so I know that the phenomenon is quite real.

Her podcast might be a great place to start. After that maybe check out the Lucidity Institute, the ld4all forums, or the Dream View forums. There is a ton of good info out there.

Thanks for the advice.

Well, if so, I would probably like to have those more often than those 20 years. :)

I did not success having a lucid dream yesterday, but this was only the first night.
Now I am starting to inhabit myself doing the reality test. Hope I can get that to work.

So, as far as I am informed, the easiest achievable and the best techniques are those: the one from Pavlina, reality-testing, dream remembering (I very very rarely any dream so it can be difficult.. maybe I should start from there..).

I also have done a Google search and found some websites but they are not much helpful either. Your site seems to be interesting, gotta try this sometime. :)

Thanks again.

lyzazel -- Keep up the effort. It will eventually be worth it. Some people have lucid dreams right away, some take a little longer. I know a few people who had their first lucid dream shortly after first hearing about the concept.

The more you write your dreams down, the easier it will be to remember them. Once they start coming, they will come in waves. Good recall is helpful in terms of achieving lucidity.

Okay, thanks.
I do. And even though I have not got a lucid dream so far, my dream recall seems to have gotten better.
Hoping to have some dreams in the near future (maybe even tonight).
Way to go. :)

Hey there.
Some time since my last post, anyway, just wanted to post something back... I have had some lucid dreams now, and in case if somebody would be interested, I would say it's really worth doing.
But I'm not too good at it. The girl on the podcast said she could get lucid dreams whenever she wants. But oh well, that's not the case with me (after more than a half year of trying, at least). I can have some random lucid dreams like once in a week or two. But oh well.
Nor did I succeed at the Pavlina's technique.

And by the way, I have even started a small website about this kind of resources. It's called Dreaming the dreamer and you can reach it by that domain.
I don't think I would update it for long, though, but still. ;)

lyzazel -- I'm glad to hear you are having some success. It takes time to master.
