Minimalist Running, but....

I consider myself a minimalist runner. I wear as little foot protection as possible. Other than Winter, this means barefoot. And I try to go with as little clothing as possible. I don't like to get hot and sweaty. (I don't understand people who over-dress for running.) I don't bring food with me on runs, no water, no goos, no gels, no iPod.

However, I do bring my Garmin. I know this is a complete contradiction, but I like it anyway. Also, I bring a cell phone. I guess it's just in case. But that case has never happened.

Looks like today will be long sleeved teeshirt day, with another teeshirt under that, shorts, Garmin.

The cool thing about the Garmin is looking at the map after the run. I can see just how fast my sprints were, can see how slow I was going when I was going slow, follow the exact random, zig-zag pattern of my run. If I lived in CO or some other non-flat place, I could check out the elevation gained and lost.

I guess it depends to some extent on just how far your running. I leave the drink belt at home as often as i can, but it would be foolhardy to do that on my longer runs. If i wasnt so folicly challenged id get away without a hat... but not glasses. heck it seems now that its warmer ive just swapped one set of environmentally influenced stuff for another.

Still, i dont run with an IPod...so thats something right?
