I still want to run a sub 20 minute 5K. That equates to a 6:26 or better pace. In the past my best 5K times were more around the 25 minute mark. So why should I be able to run a 20 minute 5K? I don't know. I just don't think that a 20 minute 5K is unreasonable. I have the speed in my legs, but I just don't have the ability to hold that speed yet for more than a couple minutes. So I'm taking more of a GTG approach to this. Lots of short intervals, keep my legs fresh. Building in lots of muscle memory of what it's like to run at that pace.
I ran just after the crack of dawn this morning. Wow. Hot, humid, and all before 6 AM. Definitely the type of day when it's best to run early before the sun gets a hold of things. I think the temp was near 80 and the dewpoint was in the low 70's.
Nice to have a slightly long weekend. Trying to recover from some house projects. Seems like lots of things breaking down with the house all at the same time. At least the roof still works.

Matt, Ill be interested to see how your approach works, how much improvement in your 5k time you get.
I used an almost exact opposite approach, lots of long slow miles.
Im sure there is more than 1 way to skin a cat, so best of luck.
